Fight School
Fight School was founded by Sam Dyson on his return from Asia in
2004. He felt that there was a need for a new style of
martial arts school in the UK, focusing on the core principles of
martial arts as opposed to on achieving lots of colored belts and
different grades.
The main goal of training at Fight School has been to provide a
safe and effective environment for learning martial arts with an
emphasis on the core principals of the arts leading to a deeper
understanding of how the styles may be applied and used.
The main syllabus taught at Fight School is an eclectic mix in
incorporating a number of different martial arts, (Shaolin Kung Fu,
Boxing, Wing Chun, Muay Thai to name a few), in order to create a
system that can be used in competition or on the street in a real
combat situation.
Typically classes at Fight School are small having no more than
10 to 15 students in any one class. The small class sizes
ensure that each student fully understands and the finer points of
each technique being taught.
Typically gradings at fight school are done 3 to 4 times a year
and focus on skill and capability as opposed to the length of time
a student has been training. All gradings must be passed for a
student to continue with their training at a higher level.
Typically it will take around five years for a novice to become a
black belt at Fight School.
